After 21 years working as a data network specialist for a major pharmaceutical company, John's role was made redundant, prompting him to consider a new career.
Having always been passionate about local produce, when John discovered the cider maker at Brogdale Farm was considering retirement, he was immediately interested. Working at the home of The National Fruit Collections gives us access to an enormous variety of apples and pears, enabling us to produce a fabulous range of craft ciders, pressed in the traditional manner on our twin-bed rack and cloth press.
Many years ago, the leftover pommace from cidermaking was fed to the Butcher of Brogdale's pet Mangalitsa Pigs. These beautiful animals, with their sheep like woolly coats, gave our ciders their name. We now produce several variations but our main dry still cider will always be "Woolly Pig".
Tiddly Pomme was the first shop to open in the Market Place at Brogdale Farm, the home of the National Fruit Collections at Faversham in Kent.
Under new ownership since 2018, we are the home to a fabulous range of bottled Kentish ales and ciders, wines, spirits and liqueurs, as well as our own Brogdale Craft Cider (makers of Woolly Pig), produced entirely from apples of the National Fruit Collections here at Brogdale.
We are also the producer and main stockist of Brogdale Juices, pure single variety and blended apple and pear juices made from the same fruits as our ciders.
Our range of locally produced food and drinks is ever expanding, and is complimented by a fabulous range of gifts, cards, prints and books.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
